Hi, I’m Ryan.

I’m a portrait photographer based in Irvine, California. For years, my day job has been marketing — building campaigns, reading data, and figuring out what actually makes people pay attention. Somewhere along the way I picked up a camera on weekends, and it stuck.

What I learned from advertising carries over more than you'd think: the strongest photos, like the strongest campaigns, aren't the loudest ones. They're the ones that feel true. That's what I'm chasing in every session — less performance, more presence.

When I'm not shooting, you'll usually find me on a golf course somewhere in Southern California — another place where paying close attention pays off.

How I like to work

Conversation first

Every session starts with a real conversation about what the photos are for — not a generic pose list. That shapes everything else.

Minimal direction

I give light guidance and let genuine expression happen in between poses. Most of the frames people love aren't the posed ones.

Honest editing

Editing that looks like a great day, not a filter. Skin looks like skin, light looks like light.
